Virtual Community Posting Guidelines

1. Be civil.

For health promoters, this usually goes without saying :-)

However, we reserve the right to move, edit, and/or delete inappropriate posts and suspend, ban, or moderate users in order to maintain a healthy discussion and a healthy community.

2. Read the site’s privacy and copyright guidelines.

This is very important! If you have any questions about either of these documents, please contact jelgie@thcu.ca or (416) 978-0595.

3. Post to the correct topic.

We have a number of topics set up with different purposes. The first post in each topic describes what it is intended for. If you’ve any questions about where to post, or think we need new or different topics, please email jelgie@thcu.ca or (416) 978-0595.

4. Use meaningful titles.

Because the discussions on this site are not threaded and cannot be viewed all at once in their entirety, the title of your post is really important in helping someone decide if they want to read it.

5. Quote sparingly

If you want to refer to someone else’s post, please quote only those portions you’re specifically referring to and not the entire message. Some people find it useful to preface the quotes with the name of the original poster to keep track in long conversations and make it easier for people joining in part way.

6. Read your post before submitting.

The virtual community does have an edit posts feature, but please read your contributions through in their entirety before clicking submit—it’s amazing what can end up there accidentally from a slip of the mouse…

7. Remove special characters.

Your virtual community posts will only appear in plain text, so characters such as smart quotes, em-dashes, or French characters will appear as nonsense symbols. Please double check your posts before and after submitting, especially if you are cutting and pasting from other software such as Word or WordPerfect.

8. When in doubt, ask.

Feel free to contact jelgie@thcu.ca or (416) 978-0595 with any questions.
