Developing the program (intervention) plan
Planning in the workplace is similar to planning in other health promotion settings, such as schools and communities. Developing a program plan is the fifth step in the Comprehensive Workplace Health Promotion Planning Framework (as outlined below in Figure 4.) More information about this framework can be found in THCU's Introduction to Comprehensive Workplace Health Promotion Info-pack. This element is a vital part of workplace wellness initiatives.
Ideally, the four other preliminary steps will have been completed before developing your program plan. During this element, the wellness committee works with the information gathered during elements 1 to 4 to create a detailed work plan which outlines the interventions and activities that will be implemented.

Planning Framework
When creating a program plan, it is also helpful to consider how to evaluate your efforts. The Evaluating Comprehensive Workplace Health Promotion Info Pack provides ‘how-to’ information on the key aspects of evaluation within the CWHP framework.
The sections entitled "Principles of Good Practice" and "How to Select and Adapt an Intervention" will also help during the development of the program plan.
