Welcome!
This resource is designed to help workplace health promotion intermediaries in Ontario by:
- Providing a variety of "well-regarded" interventions for use in workplaces, and
- Supporting the replication or adaptation of the interventions.
Well-regarded interventions are exemplary programs identified by a credible source. Ideally these interventions have yielded positive outcome and/or impact results in the workplace using sound evaluation practices. Interventions which have sound process evaluation results and which appear promising are also included and labeled. Three levels of Well-regarded interventions are cited in the catalogue, based on THCU’s evaluation criteria:
Evaluation Rating Levels
Best Practice Level:
- Assessed to be plausible and practical, in a systematic valid and reliable procedure.
- The intervention has gone under a review panel with independent reviewers and systematic criteria.
Gold Level:
- Well-regarded ‘gold’ interventions are exemplary programs identified by a credible source as interventions which have yielded positive outcome results in the workplace using sound evaluation practices.
- Assessed to be plausible and practical, by THCU core team, using their personal judgments.
Silver Level:
- Well-regarded 'silver level' interventions show positive process evaluation results.
- Assessed to be plausible and practical, by THCU core team, using their personal judgments.
As we continue to identify well-regarded interventions, the number of interventions in the Catalogue will grow. To help us in this process, see if your intervention qualifies for inclusion in the catalogue by checking out Nominate your Intervention.
Keep checking back for updates and new interventions!
What’s Inside?
Project Overview – an introduction to the project, a conceptual look at comprehensive workplace health promotion, principles of good practice and guidelines for selecting and adapting an intervention.
Methodology – the process and criteria used to identify the interventions for the catalogue.
Complete WRI Listing – an alphabetical listing of all the interventions in the catalogue. From there, click on each intervention name to access the intervention summaries.
Intervention Summaries – a brief intervention summary gives you a quick look at the intervention’s characteristics. Icons provide helpful identifiers for the characteristics of each tool. A complete intervention summary gives more details on the intervention’s characteristics as well as implementation and evaluation information. A resource listing accompanies each intervention summary, and includes a listing of the intervention materials and/or supporting documents (such as posters, guides, final reports, related journal articles, and other relevant materials) that can be accessed directly from this website. Materials accessible from the intervention source are also highlighted in this list.
Comparing Interventions – The Cabin Guide provides a quick visual summary of the characteristics of all the interventions in the catalogue.
Glossary – provides definitions to terms used throughout the resource.
Searching the Catalogue
The keyword search allows you to search across many fields in the catalogue. Use this general search if, for example, you want to see if there are any interventions that increased employee awareness.
The target search allows you to search on specific intervention characteristics. Use this characteristic search if, for example, you’re looking for an intervention that addresses "physical activity" and "increases awareness".
