days)
Description of workshop
Day 1 How to's in health communication: An overview (basic)
How to's provides participants with the information and skills
required to manage budgets, timing and relationships with producers,
suppliers and sponsors. It will also provide instruction and
techniques for effective writing and using visuals in health
communication.
Day 2 Production techniques for health communication (advanced)
This in-depth workshop gives participants information and hands-on
opportunities to develop skills in preparation of press releases and
media kits, video production, personal presentation, and multimedia
approaches to health communication. A variety of experiential learning
situations are available for participants to advance their skills in
these areas.
Who should attend
Those who:
- want to plan and supervise
production of health communication materials of high quality,
within budget and on time and/or
- want to develop basic skills in one
or more communication vehicles eg. public speaking,
internet-based.
Objectives
Participants will be able to:
- Summarize planning decisions resulting from action steps 1 - 9
- Outline production specifications, such as number, length, size,
etc
- Develop a budget
- Develop a workplan for productions, including roles and
responsibilities of suppliers, co-ordinators, coalition members.
- Contribute to/or develop content
- Implement media communication in an effective and cost-effective
manner
