Strengthening Personal Presentations Workshop (1 or 2 days)

Description of workshop
Making presentations, speaking to the media, demonstrating
leadership ... program managers, staff and volunteers all need strong
personal communication skills. This workshop will help participants
understand the most essential ingredients for a likeable, highly
interesting and effective presentation. A high impact communication style can work
in all meeting, interview and presentation situations. Participants
will learn and practice key skills, be provided with tip sheets, and
leave prepared to continue improving their communication skills.
Who should attend?
This workshop is intended for people who want to know how to develop
outlines for a variety of presentations, to use a variety of source
materials in their presentation and who want to deliver a presentation
from an outline or basic notes.
Goal
To strengthen participating health promotion programs by improving
the personal communication skills that are available to volunteers,
staff and managers for program leadership, training, public education,
media relations, and resource development.
Objectives
After completing this workshop, participants will be able:
- To demonstrate nine core presentation skills that can be
applied in meetings, teaching situations, speeches and interviews.

- Making a strong opening
- Preparing a speech from an outline
- Making a strong close
- To identify their own communication strengths and weaknesses,
and identify personal goals for further development after the
workshop.
- To apply the content of the workshop when writing/preparing
presentations for others, or when coaching others regarding presentation
skills.
