Using large group data sets workshop (1 day)
Description of workshop
This one-day course focuses on how existing data sets can support
planning, evaluation, and presentations to stakeholders. The course
will also inform participants about a wide range of data sources,
including those described in THCU's Guide to Audience Analysis and on
websites. The facilitators will outline a step by step approach to
using large data sets and will provide some opportunities for
practise.
Who should attend?
This workshop is intended for individuals using large data sets to
support their planning, evaluation, and dialogue with stakeholders and
for those who would like to address opportunities and barriers to
using such data.
Objectives
This workshop is designed to help health professionals:
- To identify how existing large data sets can be used in program
planning and evaluation, as well as their advantages and
disadvantages.
- To interpret published data, identifying implications for
planning and evaluation.
- To access a variety of large data sets (mainly surveys),
particularly NPHS/OHS.
- To plan and implement a step-by-step process to use large group
data sets for their own projects.
- To identify solutions for specific problems that arise in health
promotion projects.
